ZOË GREEN

Zoë is a Houston-based artist, ceramicist, painter, and educator. With a marine biologist turned zoo-keeper for a mother, the natural world and its fascinating creatures were highly influential in Zoë's upbringing. Her admiration for animals and nature shows up in her work not only in imagery, but also in subtler ways—organic forms, surfaces, and textures which echo the artisans of the Art Nouveau era. Zoë utilizes both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques in conjunction with painterly surface designs to create playful, whimsical ceramic wares.

In the tradition of the Impressionists, Zoë's paintings utilize expressive brushstrokes to capture memories and fleeting moments in time. She is interested in exploring the energy of light and color, blurring the lines between memory and imagination. She also enjoys keeping a visual diary by sketching from life and taking pictures, especially of her favorite places around Houston. Zoë works from these sketches, pictures, old childhood photos, and her imagination to create her expressive paintings.

Zoë graduated with her BFA from the University of Houston at Clear Lake in 2024. She taught art and ceramics classes at Clear Springs High School (CCISD) for two years, currently teaches classes at Four Circle Studio in Houston, and practices her craft in her home studio.
