ZOE GREEN
Zoë Green is a Houston-based artist, ceramicist, painter, and educator. With a marine biologist turned zoo-keeper for a mother, the natural world and its fascinating creatures were highly influential in Green’s upbringing. Her admiration for animals and nature shows up in her work not only in imagery, but also in subtler ways—organic forms, surfaces, and textures which echo the artisans of the Art Nouveau era. Green utilizes both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques in conjunction with painterly surface designs to create playful, whimsical ceramic wares.

In the tradition of the Impressionists, Green’s oil painting utilizes expressive brushstrokes to capture memories and fleeting moments in time. She is interested in exploring the energy of light and color, capturing how an experience feels in the moment. She enjoys keeping a visual diary by sketching from life and taking pictures, especially of her favorite places around Houston. Green works from these sketches, pictures, old childhood photos, and her imagination to create her expressive oil paintings.

Green graduated with her BFA from the University of Houston at Clear Lake in 2024. During university, she worked as a TA in the art education department and taught classes with the UHCL Children's Art School. She is currently in her second year of teaching ceramics and jewelry at Clear Springs High School in League City, Texas.
